History

Univers by Adrian Frutiger for Deberny & Peignot (1957)
Permanent by Karlgeorg Hoefer for Ludwig & Mayer (1964)

ToField stands as an ode to the timeless grotesque genre by getting inspiration from the Univers typeface by Adrian Frutiger for Deberny & Peignot ( 1957 ) and Permanent font by Karlgeorg Hoefer for Ludwig & Mayer ( 1964 ). The typeface embodies a very organic repartition of the weight on the letter’s skeleton, which conveys a strong readability to the design at every size. The proportions with large difference between x-height and ascendants further increases the sharpness of the lettershapes. The font fields an humble design proposal for a neutral and friendly alternative to the unmatched emblems from last century. Build on three weights ranging from regular to bold, ToField becomes a versatile typographic companion, seamlessly weaving its narrative in both the intimate realms of body text and the impact of display settings. Designed between 2017–2022, first released in 2020.
