History

Folio designed by Konrad F. Bauer for Walter & Baum ( 1957-1962 )

ToScore is based on the Folio typeface designed by Konrad F. Bauer for Walter & Baum ( 1957-1962 ). Folio offers a beautiful alternative to the widely renowned sans-serif font of that time, namely the Helvetica by Max Miedinger & Eduard Hoffmann for Haas Foundry ( 1957 ). ToScore intends to highlight the subtle design features displayed in the reference which diverge from the classics of that time: lowercases share a width globally larger than the uppercases and the numerals. Furthermore, the stroke width, though distributed homogeneously in an almost geometric matter, embeds organic ending curves. ToScore seamlessly integrates into both nuanced body of text and the graphic presence of display settings. Soon to be expanded, the family includes a strong and versatile regular cut. Designed between 2014–2024, first released in 2019.
